Some mercifully rare but nonetheless shameless self promotion today—announcements two reviews and a book show!
My novel Blood Machines has recently received gratifyingly positive and astute reviews on a couple of very cool cultural sites—these may convince you to commit your leisure hours to reading or listening to it if you haven’t already done so.
Taliesin discusses the novel in the context of vampire literature in his blog, Taliesin Meets the Vampires. This is the top-rated vampire blog of 2024, and it reviews a remarkably comprehensive collection of vampire books and movies (including scholarly works). One can quite happily lose hours reading it.
Screen Rant regular Shaun Corley has also written a detailed review in Mixed Alternatives Magazine. He brings his extensive knowledge of popular culture and the gothic genre in particular to bear on Blood Machines, and I especially appreciate how he positions it in relation to the larger vampire mythos.
Finally, I’ll be heading to Tucson in March to participate on a panel at the Tucson Festival of Books at the University of Arizona. This is one of the country’s largest literary festivals, and I’m honored to be part of it. Arizona is a sun-drenched part of the country that Allie and her VBI colleagues would find deeply uncongenial, but I’m looking forward to escaping snow and ice for a couple of weeks.
The panel is on Saturday March 9, from 1:30 to 4:30 on the University of Arizona campus. If you are in that part of the world, it goes without saying that I would be delighted to meet you.
